In an historic neighborhood of Washington, D.C. a beautiful Tudor home was surrounded by a well-established, but under-utilized garden. In order to activate the long and narrow opening between the existing retaining wall and the property line, PLUSEN proposed a series of spaces that flow from one to another.
From a formal dining terrace off the kitchen, to the fieldstone terrace, and then to an elegant pool terminated with a raised private sitting garden, the desired program elements were integrated into the historic landscape; effectively capturing the maturity and tradition of the original garden and house.
